PCB Electrical Engineer

Andromeda Systems Incorporated (ASI) is seeking Electrical/Electronics Engineers to join our team in Jacksonville, FL. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in schematic capture and PCB layout and design. Reporting to the engineering manager, they will be supporting and evaluating customer designs to reduce prototyping and help bring their products to market.

Responsibilities:

  • Apply engineering principles to investigate, analyze, plan, develop, implement, test, and evaluate projects within the electronic engineering discipline
  • Perform engineering investigations of electronic systems to determine if they meet the customers’ design requirements
  • Utilize Analog, Digital, RF, and Power design principles to optimize the performance of customers circuits and PCB designs
  • Create detailed component schematic symbols from vendor datasheets in Orcad and Altium libraries
  • Evaluate customers’ schematics and multi-layered printed circuit board designs for Design for Test (DFT) and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles
  • Ensure generation of detailed and accurate documentation for complex printed circuit boards conforming to applicable IPC standards

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics engineering from an ABET accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 5 years of design experience creating schematics and printed circuit boards using PCB CAD software
  • Experience creating high density interconnect PCB designs for fine pitch Ball Grid Array (BGA) components
  • Familiar with IPC design standards for PCB fabrication
  • Familiar with printed circuit board materials; their specifications and applications
  • Experience using Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience of design creating PCB’s for DFT and DFM
  • Knowledge of IPC 2221A, IPC 6012A Class 3, and IPC 7351
  • Expert knowledge of Altium designer and/or Cadence Orcad PCB Designer, setting up and using design rule checks and PCB layout rules and constraints
  • Experience with PCB library management, component generation, high-speed digital, RF, mixed signal board layout, and floor planning
  • Expertise in PCB fabrication materials, processes, limitations, design rules, and best practices
  • Excellent communications skills and ability to work cooperatively with others
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and mentor junior engineers

Work Authorization/Security Clearance:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and qualify for Secret Clearance
